Whitney's message to you

Welcome to the Collaborative Counseling Center. I am so happy you found me!

I am a licensed psychotherapist located in Downtown Miami who loves helping individuals, couples, and families dealing with substance abuse, addiction, and other chronic illnesses live their best lives.

I know first hand the impact chronic illness and addiction have on a family. I have lived through the ups and downs of treatment, symptoms, and recovery.

I know that often relationships suffer and stress skyrockets. I know that relapses happen and they hurt every time.

When an individual is ill or given a diagnosis, the entire family is impacted during and after treatment. It’s a challenging time and unless they’ve lived it, many people just don’t get it. Our sessions are a great time to talk about what is going on, the good and the bad, with zero judgment.

Therapy with me is probably nothing like what you've seen on TV. Forget what you know about laying on a couch, crying your eyes out, and being told “your hour is up.” I pride myself on being a modern, relatable therapist. I have a very casual, solution oriented therapeutic style and work to provide each client with the right therapy for them. Sometimes it may feel like you’re talking to a friend who is clinically trained, understanding, and devoted to helping you.

We will work together to create overall wellness. This means implementing positive change in multiple areas of your life like nutrition, exercise, work, relationships, while also improving your mental health. You are the expert on your life. I am there to help you sift through all the noise in your life and figure out what is stopping you from living your absolute best life.

Using clinically tested and evidence based interventions, I help individuals, couples, and families manage the stress of chronic health conditions and addiction recovery more effectively. I have worked with countless families with a chronically ill child or spouse. I also enjoy helping families in early addiction recovery or couples facing a new diagnosis establish a new normal and improve relationship satisfaction. Additionally, I provide counseling to adult children of alcoholics & dysfunctional families.

what to expect in a session with whitney

Pursuing therapy can be overwhelming. I hope I can dispel any fears you have about the process.

Before we meet in person, I like to have a quick phone consult. This gives us time to get acquainted and discuss goals for therapy, billing and logistics.

If we decide to pursue therapy, we will schedule an appointment and all paperwork will be sent to your email.

The first few sessions will be spent getting to know one another and setting goals for therapy. Sessions are normally 50 minutes, but this can be adjusted.

Our sessions will be a collaborative process where we discover what is holding you back and what is working for you. You will learn how manage life's stress more effectively and implement new ways of coping.

Have any other questions? Set up a consult, I'd be happy to answer them.
